It is with great sadness that we report that our PGR Brother and US Navy Retired William “Bill” Kiner Brown has set sail on his final voyage. A very devoted member of the NCPGR, Bill would be seen these past few months, attending missions with his folding chair. White hair and bread flowing in the wind, but proudly holding a Flag to Honor a Fallen Veteran Brother.
Bill served 21 years in the Navy. Initially drafted, he volunteered for submarine duty. His duties included Sea duty on seven different boats, including 3 different classes of submarines, Instructor at the Submarine Training Center in Charleston, SC and the Mobile Technical Unit at Kings Bay Georgia. He retired as a Senior Chief Electronics Technician with the following awards; Navy Good Conduct Medal (6 awards), Sea Service Ribbon with 5 Stars, Battle Efficiency Ribbon with 5 stars, National Defense Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.
We will stage and proceed to the family home to escort his wife and family back to the Funeral Home for his Celebration of Life. Once back at the funeral home we will set the flag line for the arrival of friends and family. Military Honors will be Rendered at the Funeral Home Veterans Park and we will set the Flag Line to show the proper Honor and Respect.
Stage 1200pm Twiford Funeral Home 405 E Church St. Elizabeth City, NC 27909
