Once again, the Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand for one who stood honorably for us. U.S. Army combat veteran, Sgt (E-5) Cedrick Jevon Monroe passed away on 27 August 2021, at the age of 35.
After graduation from Hoke County High School in 2004, Cedrick joined the U.S. Navy. In 2007 he branch-transferred into the U.S. Army, where he served 10 years and 4 months as a unit supply specialist (92Y20). In this capacity he served a full one-year tour of duty in Iraq. In November 2017 Sgt Monroe was honorably separated from active-duty service for unspecified combat-related medical conditions. His last duty assignment was the 163rd Military Police Force at Fort Campbell, KY. His military awards include 2 ARCOMs, 2 AAMs, an Overseas Service Ribbon, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Iraq Campaign Medal with Star.
Cedrick Monroe is survived by his wife Marcella, three daughters, three grandchildren, two sisters, four brothers and his mother. (Full obituary can be viewed at Buie’s Funeral Home website, Raeford, NC.)
