EWC Melvin Wayne Kuykendall, U.S. Navy, served our country Honorably for 28 years. During his career, he accomplished 4 tours in Vietnam, retiring from his last Command, USS Independence CV-62 in 1987. He Earned and was awarded the following; National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Navy Expeditionary Medal.
