About the Mission:
SgtMaj John D. Tate, originally from South Carolina, served his country faithfully and honorably in the United States Marine Corps. His service included tours of duty in the Vietnam War. For his honorable service he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal w/9 Stars, NDSM, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross Color w/Palm), Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Actions Medal First Class Color w/Palm), Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/1Star.
