SSG Benjamin ‟Ben” Michael Vanburen, 37, a beloved husband, father, son and friend to many, passed away on May 2, 2024 in Oklahoma. Ben was born in Kansas City, KS on March 18, 1987 to his loving parents Monte Ross Vanburen and Patricia Ann Vanburen. Ben joined the US Army in 2006 and was currently on assignment at Fort Sill, OK. Ben loved the outdoors and camping, he was very involved with Scouting America and loved doing Jujitsu with his boys where ben was a Blue Belt. He loved board games, spending time with his family and volunteering with many organizations to include the USO, Cub Scouts, Battle in Distress, International Trash Day and many others. He will be greatly missed. SSG Vanburen served with the upmost honor and received the following awards and decorations during his military career: Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal (4), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (2), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Driver and Mechanic Badge.
