RM2 Wayne Darrington served our country honorably in the United States Navy from 1981 until 1987. For his honorable service he was awarded the Submarine Insignia, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/1 Bronze Star, COMSUBRON Eighteen Letter of Commendation, November 86, Submarine Deterrent Patrol Pin w/1Gold Star, and the USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN 624) (Gold) Letter of Commendation.
In 1987 Wayne was honorably discharged. Though he left the Navy, he continued to live in the Virginia and North Carolina area, working for a defense contractor. He utilized his knowledge of construction by doing side jobs in that field, and eventually leaving defense work to pursue only construction.
