Sergeant Kenneth “Hop” Hopkins served in the Marine Corps before beginning a long career in law enforcement. He worked for the Wilmington Police Department for several years before eventually moving to Raleigh, serving the Raleigh community for 22 years before retiring.
He returned to community service, after retirement, as a youth mentor with the Raleigh PD.

Ensure you are topped off with fuel prior to arrival. Ensure all flags are mounted for highway speeds. We will brief at 0845. No One will be permitted to join the escort without attending the Brief. After the brief we will prepare to escort Sgt. Hopkins to Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3703 Tryon Road in Raleigh. This will be a LEO lead escort. Ensure all flags are mounted for highway speeds. Upon arrival at the church, we will dismount and set an Honor Line as they move Sgt. Hopkins from the Coach to the church.
Once Sgt. Hopkins has been placed in the Church, we will depart for the Family Home, where we will escort them, LEO Lead escort, back to the church. Once back at the church, we will set the flag line for the arrival of additional family and friends as they pay their final respects to Sgt. Hopkins. Upon commencement of the Celebration of Life, we will relax the flag line and alternate until the end of the Service. Upon completion of the Service we will mount up and prepare to escort Sgt. Hopkins back to the Carleton Gray Funeral Home.
