Patriots:
Sadly, we have lost another hero.
Curtis Dean Smith Jr, 41, passed away on February 22, 2021.
He was born at Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC, on June 8th, 1978. He graduated from Seventy First High School, later earning an AA in Industrial Maintenance and Electronics from FTCC.
Mr. Smith proudly served in the US Army. His awards and honors include the Army Good Conduct Medal, Nationals Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.
After his military service, Curtis held several employment positions, including his most recent job as a Technician at Camping World in Fayetteville, NC.
He had a pleasant personality that he shared with all those around him and loved to make others laugh. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help others with his many talents and abilities. Curtis was a principled man who loved motorcycles, tattoos, and his wife Chante. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, and listening to his favorite band, Sublime. His children were the driving passion in his life and his love for them was unending.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, his father and mother, a brother, 3 children and stepchildren, and many aunts and uncles. He will be missed by many people, all of whom felt fortunate to call him their friend.
His passion for life will continue in those who honor him. He loved his family and friends, and his integrity is the legacy he left behind.
The family has requested our presence to stand for their departed hero and we will be honored to do so.
This will be a “1” day mission with 2 events.

**While the country is in the process of dealing with the COVID-19 virus, the NCPGR will maintain social distancing during briefings and flag lines, as outlined by the CDC and the governor's guidelines. Face coverings and social distancing from non-household members is required. Just because you are comfortable touching and being near other people, that does not mean that the other person is comfortable or safe with the contact. Stay at least forty feet away from the family and funeral tent. If you have exhibited any symptoms associated with this virus in the past 14 days, please reconsider your attendance. Each member is responsible for his or her own safety and health during the mission. The PGR assumes no responsibility for your well-being. The Ride Captain will not provide hand sanitizer or masks. Masks are required. Ride safe, stay safe, stay healthy.
I am honored to be the POC and RCIC for this mission and will have flags available.
I will be assisted by ADC Chuck Laudenslager.
I can be contacted via the information below.
Thank you all for everything you do for our Heroes and their families.
