Patriots, once more we have been called to stand for a hero that for us. We will answer this call with honor and respect.
SGM Jon Henry Cone, Sr., 73 years old, of Hope Mills. passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023. Born December 13, 1949, to the late Elijah and Eunice Cone.
Jon leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Verna Lee Cone; children, Dion S. Cone, Anthony D. Cone (Janet), Jon M. Cone, Jr., Delene Bell-Cone, Kimberly Sanders (Henry); sister, Luvenia Cone; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.
SGM Jon Henry Cone served in the military for 26 years. He received the following medals: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal(3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 4, Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal (3rd Award, and Kuwait Liberation Medal,.
A funeral service will be held at Cedar Creek Church of God on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, at 11:30 AM with Reverend Randall Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends prior the service from 10:30 – 11:25 AM. Burial to follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery for a 2:PM interment.
