Patriots, we have the Distinct Honor to be part of the Ceremony to Proclaim Elizabeth City State University a “Purple Heart University”.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart has designated Elizabeth City State University (ECU) a Purple Heart University. The Purple Heart is a distinguished military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those who have been wounded or killed while serving in the U.S. armed forces.
The Purple Heart University designation is in recognition of ECU’s history of supporting veterans and their families. The recognition letter from the Military Order of the Purple Heart stated that the designation honors the entire veteran community at the University, as well as the students, faculty and staff, Board of Trustees, and Administration.
The North Carolina Patriot Guard will play a key role in this ceremony. We will be recognized for the Honor and Respect we show our Veterans.

We will ride into the campus, escorted by campus security, as a group.
No Stragglers, if you cannot make the brief at the staging area, you will not be part of the group ride into the campus.
Once we enter the campus, we will set the flag line for the commencement of the ceremony. Military Honors will be performed at the end of the ceremony, and we will render the appropriate honors.
Flags will be provided.
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will be provided.
